Adding Fun on Fridays

Out of the many things YVP celebrates, Fun Fridays is no exception. As it allows employees to unwind and get psyched for the weekend. The celebration is held in various venues to accommodate team members from all over the country, establishing new friendships. Fridays at work! Many employees are already fantasizing about what they will do on the weekend before the day even begins. Implementing Fun Fridays is an easy cure for these issues. You can basically schedule these events once a week or once a month to help get everyone buzzed for the weekend.

Team Pampanga

Everyone was thrilled and excited when the announcement for the celebration of Fun Friday was made. Fun Fridays at YVP were held virtually since the pandemic, but this time, it was done in person. It was exciting because team members had the chance to meet and get to know each other on a personal level, not just by their names. The celebration took place in three different locations to accommodate the team members from various places, providing an opportunity for new friendships to form. We are fortunate to have YVP celebrate and have Fun Fridays like this. Let me tell you what happened during our celebration.

Our team from Pampanga, gathered at the main venue, T.G.I.Fridays. Everyone arrived early and placed their orders. Some chose burgers, rice meals, while others opted for pasta. While waiting for the food to be served, the highlight of Fun Fridays, a game of charades, took place. Same Samonte, our team leader in operations, hosted the game. She enthusiastically acted out the words, making the guessing game incredibly fun. She acted out ten words for the minor prize and five words for the major prize. The competition was fierce, as everyone wanted to win the cash prize. Finally, the food arrived, and everyone enjoyed their early dinner, catching up and engaging in conversations.

Team Manila

The following day, the second venue celebrated Fun Fridays as well. Like our team from Pampanga, our venue was T.G.I Fridays, but in Bonifacio Global City in Manila. The reason for it being the next day was that some team members had night work schedules. Therefore, management decided to hold it on a Saturday, allowing everyone to join. Five team members joined Team NCR Fun-Friday. We prepared early to ensure no one had to wait for us. It was also a Saturday, a payday, and the traffic in Manila was chaotic, leading to heavy traffic.

Team members arrived one by one at the location. Initially, some felt awkward, but as they started talking, the awkwardness faded away. While waiting for the remaining team members, we ordered food. Just like Team Pampanga, Team NCR also played a game, despite being fewer in number. We played lip reading and took turns guessing the word, creating a fun and lively atmosphere. After a few minutes, we enjoyed our meal and had the opportunity to get to know more about each other’s work and how they got to know about YVP. It was enjoyable to meet and interact with different kinds of people. We meet people for a purpose, I guess. As soon as we finished our meal, we headed home.

Team Zambales

Finally, the last venue was at Xtremely Espresso SM Central Zambales. Similar to the previous teams, they also had a similar experience. However, this one was unique because only two attendees represented Team Zambales.

Meeting new people can be easy for some and difficult for others. Shyness, uncertainty of what to do, and overthinking about what others might say can make it challenging. Celebrating and having Fun Fridays every once in a while serves as an eye-opener for everyone. Some may be facing problems or feeling burned out from work and life in general. Life is tough, and we are grateful that YVP implements such practices that help their employees to have fun once in a while and have someone to talk to.

Overall, Fun Fridays can be an effective way to boost workplace morale and create a more enjoyable work environment. When Fun Fridays run smoothly, it encourages employees to learn from each other and utilize each other’s talents. Teamwork, instead of working alone on a project, brings new ideas and perspectives. It merges personal experiences with innovative concepts to make work more enjoyable and efficient.
